It is one thing to pack up your life and move from city to city, and quite another thing to pack up and move to a different country all together. I suspect this may be particularly challenging if you plan on moving from a place like Australia to a country like Timor Leste. Needless to say, that is what I recently decided to do.
I have spent the past four years working, studying and generally living life to the fullest in Melbourne, a good three and a half hour flight from my home city of Perth. Despite the distance between my family and I, the move to Melbourne was a good one, and one that I settled into quickly and easily.
However, after finishing a Masters in International Relations adventure called, as did exciting new work opportunities abroad. So I packed my bags, sold my furniture and sped off to Dili, the capital of Timor Leste, to start a new job. I am hoping this blog will be a positive and fun way to keep in touch with my friends and family at home and abroad, as well as an informative way to document my time here in Dili as I settle in for what I am sure will be a hectic year of new experiences.
