I like to really sink my teeth into new places, and the best way for me to do that is with a map, comfy shoes and a mission. To help my colleagues and I get down and dirty in Dili after a week of intense in country training (which mainly involved scaring our pants off with security and health warnings), some of our fellow expats decided to throw us in the deep end with an Amazing Race style competition. All I can really say is that this event was very, very well suited to someone like me.

Armed with a map, spare change and a camera we were split into two groups. Each group had to decode riddles to find out what locations we needed to find, collecting photographic evidence of these locations and particular encounters along the way. The winning group would be the one who reached the final destination first, with the most money remaining and the most photos.
My teammate, Ian, and I won. Obviously.
